 Risk Management Information

Mission Statement
The mission of Risk Management is to promote safe, healthy, secure learning and working environments and to ensure protection of district property by identifying risks, and developing and managing programs to control and minimize losses.

We are a member of the PAEC Risk Management Consortium
Go to PAEC
Florida's first multi-district self-insured property and casualty program was formed at PAEC in 1981 by small school districts in north Florida to provide property and casualty insurance to participating school districts. The program broadens the protection afforded by standard insurance policies and so includes types of coverage not previously carried by districts. By combining into a consortium, the small school districts are able to benefit from increased buying power and reduced costs for the coverages provided. In addition to insurance protection the consortium provides loss control services and "safety" programs to prevent losses from occurring.

Emergency Management Critical Incident Response

As schools hold our national treasures, our children, we will continuously evaluate and revise plans to maintain high standards and promote and maintain safe learning environments. Wakulla County Schools (WCS) takes an all hazard approach in its emergency management and preparedness initiatives. Working closely with each stakeholder group, WCS seeks to provide the most comprehensive safety and security program with prevention/mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery planning infused in each initiative. All schools and support units are provided with the resources necessary to manage critical events. The Wakulla County School Board has adopted the National Incident Management System.

Combating Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination. It is prohibited by federal and state laws.
The Florida Educational Equity Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Civil Rights Act of 1991 all prohibit discrimination against students and employees in the state system of public education.
These laws are in place to protect you, but you must take advantage of them. Any behavior that makes you feel pressured, threatened or intimidated within a sexual connotation may be unlawful sexual harassment. Filing a complaint may make you feel uncomfortable, but it is your legal right.
Sexual harassment can cause serious psychological problems for some people. It is important that we be considerate of the feelings of others. If you are told that something you do makes someone uncomfortable, you should stop immediately.
For additional information please refer to A Guide to Combating Sexual Harassment
